WHAT IS AN INTIMACY
COORDINATOR?
Intimacy Coordinators can all work a little differently, and everyone brings their own set of unique skills and experiences to a production. Here's how El approaches the role:
THE ROLE
As an Intimacy Coordinator, El’s role is to support the director’s vision while
advocating for performers during scenes involving simulated sex, nudity
or other sensitive content. She works closely with everyone on set to ensure
clear communication, respect for boundaries and a shared understanding of
what each scene requires. El can also help choreograph intimate scenes,
supporting performer wellbeing while still ensuring the work feels authentic
on screen.
As a Head of Department, El oversees the planning, communication and logistics of intimacy coordination across the production, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure intimate scenes are well prepared and run smoothly on set.
